Can patients and their guests use the library?

Patients can request help, in-person or online, from a librarian with locating patient-level information on a medical topic. Fill out our Ask the Medical Librarian form to request help. Information provided to patients by the library is for educational use only and should not be considered medical advice. 

  • Patients and their family members/guests are welcome in the library from 8:30a-5:00p Monday-Friday. 
  • There are two computers available for patients to look up information on a medical topic. These computers are restricted and do not have access to outside email (such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail), Microsoft Word, or any word processing software.
  • Library staff cannot assist with creating resumes or applying for jobs. 
  • Patients and guests cannot check-out items but are welcome to read materials within the library. 
  • The Sladen Library is primarily a medical library and does not carry fiction and/or general audience book titles. 
  • Children under 18y must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
  • Computers can only be used by those over 18 years old.
